Paramotor Vang Vieng — Tandem Flights with Our Licensed Pilot

Terra Lao Adventure is a direct paramotor flight operator. We own our paramotor aircraft and our co-founder Anthony "Toto" — a licensed paramotor pilot with 12+ years flying experience in Laos — is the pilot in the seat for every tandem flight. We are not a tour reseller or booking agency. We fly the aircraft ourselves.

Tandem paramotor flight over Vang Vieng karst mountains operated by Terra Lao Adventure

Why we are paramotor operators, not a reseller

  • We own our aircraft. The paramotor frame, engine, wing and reserve are all owned and maintained by Terra Lao Adventure.
  • Our pilot flies every flight. Anthony — licensed paramotor pilot, 12+ years in Laos — is your tandem pilot. Not a sub-contracted freelancer.
  • Our base is in Vang Vieng. We launch from a dedicated airfield, not a borrowed field. Specific GPS coordinates available on request.
  • We carry our own insurance. Liability cover for tandem operations, certificate available on request.
  • We are not a travel agency. We don't resell other operators' flights. If you book paramotor with Terra Lao, you fly with Terra Lao.

Meet your pilot — Anthony "Toto"

Anthony is co-founder of Terra Lao Adventure and our licensed paramotor pilot. He has lived in Laos for 12+ years and flown the Vang Vieng airspace extensively. Speaks English, Lao, and French. Safety-first approach: pre-flight checklist on every flight, weather call made on the morning of the flight, no flying in marginal conditions.

The flight experience

Sunset flight (16:30-18:30 window)

Golden-hour light over the karst mountains. Best for photography. Cooler air for a more comfortable ride.

Sunrise flight (5:30-7:00 window)

Calmer winds and morning mist clearing off the Nam Song River. Most popular among photographers and couples.

What you'll see from the air

  • Vang Vieng's limestone karst mountains (~150-300m AGL)
  • Nam Song River winding through the valley
  • Blue Lagoon area
  • Surrounding rice paddies and traditional villages
  • The full Vang Vieng karst skyline at golden hour

Equipment

  • Aircraft: tandem paramotor frame with proven engine
  • Wings: certified tandem-rated wings, regularly inspected
  • Reserve parachute: repacked on schedule
  • Passenger gear: certified harness, helmet with comms, gloves
  • Pre-flight inspection: documented checklist before every flight

Safety & weather protocol

We only fly in suitable conditions. Our pilot makes the weather call on the morning of the flight based on wind speed, gust factor, and visibility. If we cancel for safety reasons, we reschedule at no cost or refund in full. We are not in a rush — flying tandem in marginal conditions is not worth it. We have flown in Vang Vieng long enough to know when not to fly.

Paramotor vs paragliding vs hot-air balloon vs helicopter

Paramotor (us): 15-25 min, low altitude (~150-300m), intimate scale of the karsts, controlled by the pilot. Most "you-are-flying" sensation per dollar.

Paragliding (unpowered): needs a hill launch and lift; not available in Vang Vieng valley.

Hot-air balloon: 1 hour, high altitude (~500m+), broader panoramas, drifts with the wind. We also offer this ($149).

Helicopter: not available in Vang Vieng.

Frequently asked questions

Do you operate the paramotor flights yourselves, or do you resell?

We operate every flight ourselves. Terra Lao Adventure owns the aircraft and Anthony is the pilot in the seat for every tandem flight. We are not a reseller.

Why are paramotor flights currently unavailable?

Operations are temporarily paused for equipment upgrade. Join the waitlist via the contact page to be notified when bookings reopen.

Do I need a license to fly tandem?

No. You fly as a tandem passenger with our licensed pilot. No experience required.

What's the difference between paramotor and paragliding?

Paramotor uses a powered propeller frame so we can take off from a flat field; paragliding requires a hill launch and depends on lift. Paramotor gives a more controlled, predictable tandem experience.

What's the price?

$100.00 USD per person. Pricing locked for waitlist members when bookings reopen.
